At moment I'm really enjoying that addictive sour oriental herbal sage taste in Oriental Latakia blends.
Bengal Slices, Plum pudding, Crown achievement, Balkan blue all have that delicious taste.

Can anyone suggest other blends with that taste profile?

Thanks -TimPiper

The term Orientals covers a broad range of tobaccos with many different flavors, but as far as sour notes go, I like C&D's Star of the East. It has almost a sour buttermilk-like flavor that I like, but I can't stand buttermilk. But, in the smoke it's different. puf
I have a jar of that somewhere. Will have to dig it out. Thanks

Try Arango Balkan Supreme and H&H Black House

+1. Came in to recommend Balkan Supreme.

Also, Hearth & Home White Knight. It's Russ's Balkan Sobranie match based on the old blends that everyone loved back in the day. It's a top notch Balkan for sure, with plenty of that oriental tobacco flavor that sets Balkans apart from Englishes.

My favorite oriental forward English is John Cotton’s numbers 1&2. This blend has the good Latakia flavor but the orientals really shine to my taste.

I will also add that H&H white knight really has a good flavor.

Many will disagree with what I’m getting ready to say here but oh well. I actually really enjoy the sour oriental flavor I get from C&D Pirate Kake.

Yes that sour oriental taste is there in white knight and its good.

Some say the taste taste im refering too is floral or even perfumy, i sort of see that but its not in a lakeland land floral taste more sour herbal.

Im surprised its in pirate kake. have you tried captain earles ten russians? Does that have the sour oriental taste? -TimPiper

White Knight is a good place to start. I would then recommend Peretti Royal, Rattray Red Rapparee (so sour and sharp it's like smoking a razor blade), Dunhill Durbar (or whatever it is coming back as) and C&D Rajah's Court (C&D's version of Durbar). A little heavier in Latakia but still heavy with Orientals are Peretti's Tashkent and Cotton's Smyrna.

I guess people’s tastes are all different. I can’t really pick up that oriental flavor I enjoy when smoking Rajahs Court.

I know Pirate Kake is a Lat Bomb but I get that oriental flavor in every puf. John Cotton’s Smyrna and Numbers 1&2 has a more refined oriental taste.

I’ll have to check out Rattray’s Red Rapparee.

I would add Sutliff English Oriental to the already mentioned blends. It has a strong oriental herbal/floral flavor profile. For some reason it is a bit under the radar as far as availability. To me it is one of Sutliffs better blends (coming from someone who does not regularly smoke aromatics anyway).

You might look into a few Virginia/Oriental blends such as GLP Embarcadero and Cairo. C&D Sunday Picnic is another that comes to mind.

Agreed about Dunhill Durbar. Dunhill Standard Mixture Mellow is a satisfying Va/Or blend, albeit on the milder side.

A completely Oriental blend that has that flavor all day long is Peretti Oriental 40.

Sutliff Blended Turkish Ribbon (TS24) is a bulk blend of three orientals - Yenidje, Bas ma, and Samsun.
I always keep a few ounces on hand to mix in with straight Virginia's when I want that flavor profile.

TS19 "Turkish" is another from Sutliff. It's just ribbon cut Smyrna. It has a very floral smell and when mixed in with a blend it adds a semi-sweet, musty floral dimension that's mild but flavorful.
