First a sincere thanks to everyone single one of you for getting my pipe adventures off to an excellent start. I've been reading and studying all the magnificent posts in this group almost around the clock - finally Saturday my first pipe and tobaccos arrived.. I'm scratching my head wondering how such a magnificent sport eluded me for almost 80 years.
I've only got a handful of sample flavors and one corn cob pipe owing to need to be thrifty - but no matter - tasty they are!
Already I've discovered the relevance of comments regarding things like nicotine - I'm definitely going to be trialing "strong" varieties. I'm guessing my 40 plus years of 3 pack a day Marlboro red habit has me a tad in love with nicotine.
Anyhow I'm hoping I've given up the cigarette rodeo forever.
Thanks again for all your words of wisdom, and your permission to join such a wonderful outfit.
Sincerely...

cobs are as good as briar for smoking. Just different and cheaper to make.

After reading this I wanted to respond. I’m still relatively new to this hobby or as you put it sport. I kind of like sport even better than hobby so I’ll probably steal that from you and use it in place of the word hobby now when typing. I just can’t think of anything much cooler than a man of your years and wisdom being so happy to have found a place like this. I too did exactly what you did and stayed glued to this website for months and months. The education one can get while tuning in here is pure gold at times. And the amazing people we get to meet is a just a huge bonus. You yourself are now one of those individuals for me. So yeah man I just wanted to say congratulations on your first Pipe and tobaccos. I’m very happy for you my friend. Here’s to many many happy smokes. 🍻🍻
