I think the best catalogs ever produced were the ones from JR Cigars back in the day.

This.
Lew was a master salesman, unequaled by any tobacco hawker past, present or future. I'd read those catalogs cover to cover, then order three boxes of something that he'd already told me was a dog rocket. To this day, I have unopened boxes of cigars in my humidor that I have no idea why I bought them, except that Lew said that he had to get rid of them and the price was right.
Lew Rothman and Gene Shepherd were separated at birth, I think.
BTW, Lew is on Facebook

Yes, it's a guilty pleasure about which I feel no guilt. When I don't want to wade into a book, it is supposedly light reading that becomes educational and also a prompt and reminder about various good blends and pipes I know. I tend to be such a variety hound, I need to review what leaf is in what blend. The staff recommendations are always fun to read and sometimes surprising, and the pipe deals are great.

I love the catalog every month. I also love the calendar bu tI didn't receive one this year and I miss knowing about the monthly sales codes. Last year, somebody posted all the codes for 2017 but I can't find codes for 2018. Would somebody be so kind as to either point me in the right direction with a link or post the monthly calendar codes? I'd sure appreciate it as I feel I'm out of the loop this year....1st year without a P&C calendar ever since they started them.

I haven't thought about those old JR catalogs in years, they were a riot. Lew was the best salesman I have ever seen.

I do look forward to my PC catalogs and place them on the back of my toilet when they come in.

Something about print focuses the mind. I like online, but it always feels like I'm swimming or afloat, whereas a catalog in hand seems to define and spell things out. I feel like I learn a lot, even when I'm just browsing. I have plenty of magazines with in-depth articles. A good catalog is informative in a different way. Catalogs make me pity the generation that gets everything off a screen. They lose an important part of their brain circuitry, I fear. It may just be generational, but I noticed that people are coming back to vinyl records and celluloid photography. There's something there that isn't being addressed by digital devices.

I always look forward to their catalogs. Sometimes you see a tobacco that you may have overlooked and you can always get further insight into the blend from tobacco reviews.com. Well done P&C! Please keep them coming.

THANK YOU Cortez!!!! I really felt lost without the calendar this year. I'm printing this list out and taping it over the stupid bank calendar hanging over my desk.

Thanks again for taking the time to type all that out....much appreciated, sir.

I think the best catalogs ever produced were the ones from JR Cigars back in the day. Lew Rothman would rant and rant and rant for pages. Then he'd toss in a story about a cigar legend. No PC, no filter, no nonsense. Them was readin' catalogs for sure.

P&C catalogs are more about information, prices, facts. I'm not against those things, mind you, but I don't mind reading something smoking related that completely forgets to be useful.

Was thinking the same last week when I stopped at JR. No Bull from Lou.

I know I love it when ever I get a new one. So many choices, so many good deals. They always seem to get the order early than what it is said on the tracking which is a plus. Not to mention great customer service.

Keep your eyes peeled (where the hell did that phrase come from?) because the next one should be in your mailboxes in a couple of weeks.
