I just ordered a tin of C&D Bayou Morning Flake. All this talk of mold is making me want to open it immediately.

For the most part, English blends are packaged with less moisture. But, I have seen mold on a jar of Planta's Full English. So, it can happen, but probably not as often as Virginias which need to be packaged with more moisture to aid in the aging process.

So when you buy some of your favorites to cellar from C&D and you read/hear about this, it makes me nervous. I purchase from 2/3 on line folks, do I open all the tins of Bijou I just bought? How about the two 8oz tins of Bayou Morning? I had not planned to jar any of this, but sounds like I may need to if I want to "know" for sure on the mold and would want a replacement.

Might depend on where you buy it from. Possibly some shops might still have old tins from a couple of years ago when there was a problem, but I thought it was all pretty well sorted out by now. Granted that with organic stuff there's always a possibility, but C&D's rep isn't really much worse than any other makers, & they go out of their way to fix issues. I guess personally I probably check anything I got just for peace of mind, but I'm not a cellar guy; when I buy it I smoke it. If you cellar you probably do want to check & then jar it. If you open one of each & it looks OK & the others are from the same batch you're probably OK.
