Afternoon, friends.
I'm at my folks' farm this weekend with my lovely wife, mother and one of my best friends. While I cook dinner, and my wife and mother hang out chatting and crafting, my pal Mike is holed up in a field on the back 40 with his .308 waiting for this year's buck to walk into his sights.
I am skipping out to have a pipe by the fire-pit and thought I'd share my Irish trifecta with you: Irish Slices flake, Pete Rosslare 80S and a pint of Guinness.

This is my first time smoking Irish Slices. The flakes are long, and are brown speckled with blonde. I cube cut the flake and packed it to a smooth but stiff draw. The sweet and fruit notes of the Virginias gave way to a deep and tangy smoke of the Kentucky. There was a perfumy/floral aromatic that stayed with the smoke from beginning to end.
Happy Friday, folks. Enjoy your weekend(s).

EDIT -- Prompted by Roth's post below... I did not mean to infer that this tobacco is an aromatic, but that there was an perfumy/floral note/aroma in the smoke. Thanks for encouraging the clarity, Roth! :)

I haven't had Guinness from a can in a long while. Do they still put the ball in the can? It looks like the book is Irish as well.

Just finished a bowl from this two year old tin I found at the B&M this afternoon. As usual for a McC flake the flavors were a bit tight and closed in, so it needs a few weeks of airing out.

I, unfortunately, have spent the day trying to keep my infant son out of the hospital. Pneumonia. No pipes for me.

A nice, uncharacteristically warm night for November in Southeast Nebraska, so I was able to sit outside and enjoy a bowl of Dunhill My Mixture in a Savinelli bent billiard.

I took some photos of my new Jobey billiard (and the Maxpedition pouch setup), but my iPhone ran out of juice before I could get them uploaded to Photobucket to share... Soon, I promise!
