When you put a whole lot of livelihoods in jeopardy and mainline fear porn for months, you’re going to get all sorts of bad behaviour from people who were on the margin to begin with.

I'm partial to wearing masks because it is so damned easy. As Huck Finn says, it was easy so I done it. Between my wife and I, we have so many vulnerabilities we sound like a CDC bulletin. I was an early mask adaptor, actually thinking of my wife, since of course I'm invulnerable and immortal. When the drugstore pharmacy guy asked me if I was a Covid patient -- he wasn't wearing a mask -- I said, no, and I hope this mask is as silly as it looks. Now days he wears a mask.

Weird. Really weird. Just before my 20-weeks of pretty continuous lockdown (and counting) my girlfriend and I decided to have a romantic (throw a dart at a map) weekend in Bethlehem (where neither of us had ever been).

We stayed in a cliche-charming 18th century private house on Main Street, where very few restaurants or anything else still remained open (the surreal desolation rather enhanced by school-of-Kenny-G jazz being piped through a loud speaker system of little speakers everywhere in the streets of "downtown"). But it was kind of fun and a tonic change from the panic rapidly building here in New York City.

Odd to think we were less than ten minutes drive from this Cigars International "superstore" location.

"Florida Man" is fast becoming a trope, like "Karen".

I'm also happy to hear that Granny carries mace. It's comforting to know that old folks are protected.

I dislike wearing a mask, but do so when necessary because it's the right and proper thing to do under these circumstances. I'm protecting others from me and I'm protecting myself from those brain donors ambling around me.

I am familiar with the phrase "Florida man", but not "Karen"
