Oh, HOW I WISH I could be one of those guys who in his entire smoking life only owning 3 pipes - 1 Medico, and, 2 Grabows - and, is wholly content and happy smoking his one and only blend, Velvet, at less than $30 a tub; as he joyfully lives out his smoking days, with nary a further thought about pipes, tobacco, etc; other than just enjoying his smoking for the sake of smoking.
I'm not that guy; though I envy him greatly.
I did try Velvet once, and I do not recall anything off-putting about it. I also do not recall feeling my toes curl with joy upon sampling it either; as was the instantaneous case for me with Middleton's Prince Albert.
Based on your query, I think I too shall have to rummage up a pouch of the stuff, and give Velvet another go.
