If they can talk you out of getting it, then they need to talk me out of getting this from the same era but with more kick assery, the original (well, #3) Airwolf for $625K. Yeah, yeah, I know: maintenance, storage and those pesky flying lessons (not to mention I'd have to leave the Mrs. Myst) but come on! Which one of us wouldn't want to load the thing up and blow up that prick down the street Audi to oblivion while cranking the theme song???

On the open road, the Valkyrie is quite capable, but if I am running to the store, the SYM is there and back before the 1.5 liter is even warmed up.

I miss my 500cc scooter. So simple, reliable and fun!

Any car can be a money pit. As a two time first edition Miata owner, I can say that they are one of the most fun cars to drive for the money. The only one that was more fun was my Toyota MR2 Sypder. Its too bad it didn't have much after market support. In either case, it would be easy to drop thousands into them in a blink of an eye. Neither needed it but there was always the temptation to do just one more thing. It's like one more pipe...

@cosmicfolklore there is a lot of mentions on here about getting a Miata, and I think that's where your head is at as well. But in all seriousness, have you considered a Fiat 124?

Before you go looking for memes, keep in mind that this is essentially a Miata, built by Mazda in Japan for Fiat.

IMHO you get a much better looking car without Fiat build quality. They also have a certain exclusivity that you don't get with a Miata.

Yes, but does that transfer into harder to find parts?
I am sold on the Miata, and my wife has narrowed her onion down to include a Maita in her list. But, her best friend drives a convertible Cooper. My argument is that my legs feel less cramped in a Miata than a Cooper, and since I would be doing all of the driving... I have never been with a woman who detested driving as much as her, but loves travelling.

I am not exactly just looking for curb appeal. I mean, the Ferrari... Magnum PI..,. that was different, but drivability is my number one criteria. I have at least test driven both. I have not test driven 1982 Ferraris.

I'm keeping my options open, looking, reading...

They are relatively new, so they should still be under warranty. When I say it is a Miata, I mean it. The engine, drive train, everything is Mazda. It would be no harder to find parts for a 124 than a Miata.

I didn’t know there was such a thing as a Fiat 124 - very cool

Exactly! No one knows they exist. I think I've seen 2 outside of the Auto Show, and I'm pretty convinced its the same one they show year after year.

My cuz in Florida is a real car guy. He has a Corvette as his main ride, an SUV for his wife, a Ford deuce coupe, and his first car, which he bought new working construction, a Plymouth 'Cuda muscle car built at the factory to his specs. I think he does talk to some people about his rides when he'd rather not.
