I was browsing Ebay and came across this beautiful looking unsmoked Talamona on the Great-Estate pipes page. I have never heard of this maker and the last thing I need is another pipe (I have 104) but I have a weakness for natural looking straight grain pipes so I threw out a bid anyway. Can anyone tell me anything about this maker? I won it for $140 plus shipping so I figure I can't go wrong.
Here are some pics and Chance's description of the pipe
You are bidding on an UNSMOKED & GORGEOUS TALAMONA ELITE GRADE 360 STRAIGHT GRAINED LARGE RIDGE LINED 3/4 BENT FREEHAND estate pipe. The Talamona family, principally Cornelio, and later his son Cesare, began making pipes in Italy in 1929. Together, they created fine, handmade pipes that garnered a reputation for beauty and excellent smoking characteristics. While they were never big in the US, in Europe they were much more well known. Sadly, with the death of his wife, Cesare closed up the shop for business in 2000.
