With a fixed income, climbing medical bills, and health not really improving, I'm going down to strictly needs. When my monthly internet usage ends in the next few weeks I'll not be renewing it to keep outgoing finances as low as possible.

That sucks. I hate to suggest this but I don't think crowd funding would be selfish in this situation. I am sure people here would consider it a decent investment to throw a few anonymous bucks your way. And if that happened it's because no one really respected your no followers rule, we just tried to be stealthy about it.
You do what works for you (like you need anyone to tell you that), but that option exists and trust me it wouldn't be charity but people making the choice to be altruistically selfish and not prematurely loose contact with a member of our community. In other words anyone that did give to such a fund would be making the choice that it's the best thing they can do with their income. Please at least give it some thought.
