I don't remember a time when Forums was exactly a string quartet, in terms of sweet harmony, but if you'll give it about three weeks, it will come back around again somewhat more upbeat than lately, I think. It's an organism! It's alive, alive! It has its moods and seasons.

I have aways been interested in these 'flame outs' and I have witnessed quite a few over the years. There was the memorable MLC meltdown in three forums at once caused by Dan sending him a tin of War Horse that was not exactly like the tin from 1932 due to Dan's malfunctioning time machine! There was the chap who got chucked off here and founded the 'Other Place' that I used to moderate who would send some pretty fun missives late in the day but compared to case one was on the whole quite sane. I have witnessed and also banned numerous 'Mr Angry's' who from the safety of a key board happily offer violence and heavens knows what else - they get banned for being total arsehats but only after reminding them that I also know where they live with their 'Male special friend' and we have the pictures!

I am impressed Davet! Is that a holiday snap? I achieved a more moderate result with a Bic lighter and a White Castle 'belly buster' box of burgers once but incinerated my nylon sock as a result of the jet of fires unpredictable path of travel. I have heard tell it can also be done with a pipe and lighting the mouthpiece but I can only image the 'ghosting' as a result! :rofl:

These posts always baffle me.
If I'm going to be home a lot later from the office than usual, I give my lovely bride a call or a text. If I'm going to be out of the office for a couple of days, I let my staff and colleagues know. I do this, because, in my absence, I'll be missed. And if my absence is unexplained, that might even cause concern.
But when, as happens from time to time, life imposes priorities that keep me from posting to a pipe discussion forum, I cannot seem to convince myself that my presence there is so vital, or that my unexplained absence will do such trauma, that any announcement -- much less a manifesto -- is required.
