A big (for me at least) pipe tobacco order arrived today and, in an effort to curb my TAD, I've decided that this will be my last new blend order of the year. After this the only time I'll be ordering any more tobacco in 2025 is if I smoke through the entire jar of something I already have and decide I want some more of it, but no more ordering new stuff to try this year from here on out. puffy

Included in this order is...

I'm definitely excited to try the TK-6! It looks and smells suspiciously like Cult Blood Red Moon lol

Strangely the cherry blends I'm most excited to try though are Paladin Black Cherry and Captain Black Cherry. They both have the sort of cherry candy pouch aroma I've been searching for, though aroma doesn't always translate to flavor so I'll give them all a try over the next few days and see how it goes! puffy

Oh definitely, CB and Paladin are definitely more candy-like. I've found the CB to be the most candy flavor but that extra burley requires some care, ofc. Paladin I find more balanced... also an older school blend like Middleton's.

And yes agree again, I've actually seen online others claim the TK-6 to be essentially Cult bulk.. idk their source but (other than maybe slightly more vanilla in the Cult) my palate definitely can't taste enough of a difference to justify the markup haha.

Either way, happy trails with all those new samples puffy

I did end up smoking Captain Black Cherry and Paladin Black Cherry while I spent a couple hours jarring up all the tobacco that arrived in the mail today! When I tried the Captain Black Cherry I initially thought I must have made a mistake and grabbed the wrong jar, because it tasted exactly like the same thing I've been smoking nearly every day for the past month: Lane Very Cherry. The flavor is absolutely identical as far as I could tell, right down to the subtle little almond pastry and cinnamon notes. I had indeed grabbed the right jar though, so as far as I can tell Captain Black Cherry is just Lane Very Cherry in retail packaging.

Paladin Black Cherry was a very different matter though, and flavor wise I think it's exactly what I've been looking for! It's got that cherry Blow Pop lollipop sort of cherry flavor with a good base of reasonable quality mellow Burleys and Virginias backing it up, and after smoking it for an hour I feel like I'd be ready to say my search for the right cherry blend for me ends here; were it not for one little thing. The retrohale stings the sinuses like nobody's business!

Being a habitual retrohaler that was a pretty major disappointment, though the super stingy retrohale may simply be because it was a freshly opened pouch and it might calm down a bit after giving it a couple weeks in a Ball jar. The flavor of Paladin Black Cherry is definitely just what I've been looking for though! puffy

how does it compare to janneman’s flake?

Received an additional pound of Royal Twist.
Old Fredder's has more flavor and is a little brighter/juicier than Janneman flake.
If you have both try mixing some Janneman with Louisana Broken. About 2/3 Jannnman.
That is somewhat similiar.
I havent tried them back to back but in my head they are close.

Im probably not going to order more Janneman but I will stock Old Fredders

If you are in the South stop by sometime for a smoke!

Im about 45 minutes from Perpignan.

Thanks for the recipe. I really like your HU delight (with slightly twisted proportions), so I'll trust you on this one too!

The source was someone working at Lane. This was before they were relocated.

Finally stopped by the last B&M I know of in the area, Stag Tobacconist.
Not much but I needed some Royal Yacht, and the High Roller was blended for the 23 Vegas Show by Jeremy Reeves and the owner’s father (per the owner)-a bright VaPer with a smattering of orientals, but I can’t find much about it.
….and an ashtray knocker.
If you’re in my neck of the woods and like SPC blends, they’ve got a few. And a couple tins of Molto Dolce cheaper than TinBids😆
