I bought a pouch of half and half a few weeks ago and have been working thru it in some cobs, always noticing a sweet corn flavor in the bottom quarter of the bowls. I was smoking on fresh cobs so i just figured it was the taste of the pipes breaking in, but after smoking it a briar for the first time, the corn flavor remained. Its quite delicious. Is that part of the topping or casing? Or is it in the tobac in the blend causing that. I would be interested in more blends with this flavor.

thanks in advance

I've found happiness retrying a pouch of Sir Walter Raleigh that I disliked the first go-around, but I had a bad experience with Half & Half with definite sharp edges. Burley and Virginia, how could they go wrong? I've made that mix, with a pinch of black Cavendish with great satisfaction. But I may try Half & Half again at some point. Maybe it will win my heart.

it has a little bit of a sharp edge for sure, but its not one I mind. I guess it kind of reminds me of drinking mid shelf liquor

Half & Half’s topping is definitely on the sweet side, but I’ve never noticed corn. I’ll have to pay attention for that next time. The topping reminds me of fruit flavored hard candy. Like a Jolly Rancher that I can’t quite tell the flavor of. I want to say cherry, but it’s not quite. There’s anisette as well, but for me it quickly gets overwhelmed by whatever fruit flavor is in there. It gets cloying to me after a while. Definitely a blend that I only smoke small bowls of. Either that or I cut it with Crooner or Five Brothers. It’s not a bad smoke, but it’s not my favorite.
