Just noticed something. The seller is listing this pipe as NEW! That is one hell of a blackened and charred bowl. If this pipe is new then Aspasia was a virgin.

Interesting! I just had to ask the seller why the bowl was so blackened and charred looking if the pipe was new. I had a per-colored Lee Van Cleef meerschaum pipe, but the interior of the bowl was certainly not colored in any way. Anyway, he promptly responded with this answer:
that is how I get them. Rest assured they ARE new. I am not sure what type of treatment they go thru. the bowls are made from coconut.
Coconut bowl! Yep, something I missed in his description as I simply, from the looks of it and it's color had assumed that this pipe was made from meerschaum. The entire pipe can't be made from coconut, so why on earth would just the bowl be made from it? Has anyone run across, and or have knowledge of pipes being made from coconut?
