Blenders bench is D&R so if I had to guess.... I’d say Sutliff might be less peppery. Though I have no clue to be honest.Any insight on these for blending? Which is less peppery?
I figured the Sutliff may be cased in some way more than D&R?I have recently purchased the Sutliff. I have used the D and R and C and D in the past. The sourcing for the Sutliff is supposed to be SJ Parish so, I do not expect a discernible differenice.
Why would Perique be cased?I figured the Sutliff may be cased in some way more than D&R?
Not sure.. to make it stay fresh longer? Why would Perique be cased?
That seems counterintuitive for Perique. I believe most of these companies are getting product from Mark Ryan. I imagine a very small percentage of what they purchase is sold for consumer blending. In fact, blending Perique does not always seem to be in stock. Not sure.. to make it stay fresh longer?
I am looking for a sweeter but unadulterated Perique. Less pepper - more sugar. What would you recommend?Ken Byron commented on perique blends. He said you would need more sutliff or c&d due to in-house processing on another board. I use blenders in my home blends.
If you want unadulterated go with D&R. The blenders bench will be absolutely unadulterated and his perique is pretty much the source for all other pipe tobacco Perique. If you get a chance, try his different varietals to see which you prefer.I am looking for a sweeter but unadulterated Perique. Less pepper - more sugar. What would you recommend?

”Processed” does not necessarily mean “cased”. I would be curious what Jeremy Reeves might say about how C and D “processes” Perique. This could be no more than the way it is cut from the barrels.SEE

Decade Perique is wonderfully fruity. A few years back, at the WCPS, Mark had me sample the various Periques he had brought to the show and the Decade Perique was stunning. That's what decade perique was famous for
I’m reasonably certain that both C&D and Sutliff get their Perique from Mark Ryan.
