Sutliff Perique TS-20 vs Blender's Bench Vacherie Perique?

Blenders bench is D&R so if I had to guess.... I’d say Sutliff might be less peppery. Though I have no clue to be honest.
D&R is the REAL deal. If I am not mistaken, he is the gentleman that basically saved St. James Parrish Perique from demise.
I figured the Sutliff may be cased in some way more than D&R?
That seems counterintuitive for Perique. I believe most of these companies are getting product from Mark Ryan. I imagine a very small percentage of what they purchase is sold for consumer blending. In fact, blending Perique does not always seem to be in stock.
Ken Byron commented on perique blends. He said you would need more sutliff or c&d due to in-house processing on another board. I use blenders in my home blends.
I am looking for a sweeter but unadulterated Perique. Less pepper - more sugar. What would you recommend?
If you want unadulterated go with D&R. The blenders bench will be absolutely unadulterated and his perique is pretty much the source for all other pipe tobacco Perique. If you get a chance, try his different varietals to see which you prefer.
perique get fruitier as it ages. Sometimes I mix in Robert McConnell perique with st James. It’s technically green river burley but gives you much more stone fruit. Blenders bench only comes in 6 oz I think so I’d buy an Oz of the others first and check results. I did 5 iterations before settling on my Vaper recipe.
”Processed” does not necessarily mean “cased”. I would be curious what Jeremy Reeves might say about how C and D “processes” Perique. This could be no more than the way it is cut from the barrels.
I’m reasonably certain that both C&D and Sutliff get their Perique from Mark Ryan.
Decade Perique is wonderfully fruity. A few years back, at the WCPS, Mark had me sample the various Periques he had brought to the show and the Decade Perique was stunning.
That’s why I bought tubs of it.
All sold out.
If they are then are something's being lost in translation. The Sutliff perique I got a few months back was pitiful. C&D's was a bit better but still nothing special. I think you bought up all the good stuff my friend.
