Sutliff Bulk Dating?

In the past month I bought some 1lb bags of Sutliff Match Victorian.
The ones I got in early November have “724” on the top left of the labels, and the ones I ordered at the end of November, after seller went out of stock, then back in stock, have “1024” in the same spot.

I believe these are date codes, for July 2024 and October 2024.

Can anyone with more experience with Sutliff one pound bags confirm or refute my hypothesis?

If that's true, it drives me absolutely wild that the codes come in 3 and 4 digit varieties. 0724 would be a lot better! It's a little shocking to see an inconsistency like that with an automated process for code printing.

Europeans and their periods in their numbers and their weird way of writing the date.
