All grammar mistakes aside, I did enjoy this movie immensely. One of the greats.
I've never tried the tobacco and am not likely to.

There is no denying that Tobacco Reviews is replete with unfavorable reviews on AQ; however, not all of them are bad, as some folks truly like it.
Everyone's tastes are different after all. I certainly did not hate it as some do; but then again, I didn't like it all that much either. I think it's redeeming quality is that it definitely has a unique profile and presentation which I had never experienced before.
For that reason - and the fact that you can buy one ounce bulk for $2 and change - I feel if a person is even thinking about it from the catalog description, they should at least try AQ for themselves and let their own palate make the call.
Besides, it's not like we are talking about a $10-$20 tin here; and we may just get another hysterically scathing review out of it. - Sherm Natman

Hmmm, the flavor profile sounds rather interesting to me but then pappymac's aroma description is making me think twice.
Still, cheap enough to take a chance I suppose and add an ounce onto my next order. Also sounds like I should try the Voodoo Queen as well.

Sherm, I would try AQ if I ran across it one day. Those reviews can definitely be hilarious. Before I took up the pipe again, I would read those things for hours. Some of those should be collected and made into a book!
They are that funny and or interesting.
Now that I think about it, maybe I'll have an African Queen movie night here at home and order up some AQ tobacco to enjoy while watching. If it's that bad, I could always break out some "Salty Dogs" in keeping with the Nautical spirit.

Shanez, RedGlow - That's the spirit fellows!
How less exciting our pipe-smoking would be without such forays into the vast unknown of possible palate-pleasures and tenuous tongue-bite terrors. And, just to celebrate in brotherhood, your spirit-of-adventure in untried tabak mixtures, I may blend together some African Queen with some Peter Stokkebye 80 Norwegian Blend, and call it Kon-Tiki.

With the Hollywood trend to keep remaking movies or reusing the same plot, I find it interesting that none of the old Bogart classics have been remade. I've heard that a tv pilot for a series titled The African Queen was shot but it never made it to air. I can't think of any Bogart movies that have been remade.
Edit: I just remembered, the Elvis Presley movie "Kid Galahad" was a remake of Kid Galahad (1937). Bogart played a gangster in the 1937 movie.

I will neither condemn nor defend the copywriter for the word choices made mainly because I don't know the copywriter in person. I chalk-up the problem to several possible problems. 1. The copywriter meant to use the word "complement" but the spell check on the computer decided that "compliment" was the correct word and the copywriter wasn't paying attention to the change. 2. The copywriter doesn't know there is a difference in meaning between the two words. Like colour and color, the first is spelled correctly if you are in one country while the later is correct in the United States. It is possible the copywriter mistakenly thought both spellings meant the same. Or, 3. It was just a poor word choice by a copywriter.
Since I was the copywriter, I can tell you that it was - 4. Originally written correctly and someone edited it incorrectly after it was submitted.

And yet, with all the sophisticated technological aids surround him, Man, being a faulted creature at his core, can still find the pathway to err; if not on his own, he can often count on the assistance - wanted, or otherwise - from some other guy.
Perhaps that is part of the reason the smoking of a low-tech pipe is so wonderfully satisfying in a high-tech world.
A match, some dried vegetable matter, and a hunk of wood with a couple of holes in it... hard to have that "crash","glitch", or become subject to "being hacked". - Sherm Natman

As a retired editor, I refuse to accept that. LOL We all know human editors don't make silly mistakes.

In any case, I am glad that I can now proudly say that I have sailed on the African Queen; albeit by accident.
Perhaps they can start including a Rub-On tattoo for the customers with each ounce ordered - sort of like when sailors got tattooed to signify they had crossed the Equator via sailing ship. LOL!
Now, I have the pleasure of looking forward in the future to finally trying VOODOO Queen - the pipe tobacco I intended to try in the first place - IF I can put my next order in correctly.
We shall see.
This just in: Perhaps P&C can run one of their "Battle of the Blends" promotions - which I love so much - featuring: African Queen vs Voodoo Queen. - Russ, are you still reading?
That could be fun. - Sherm Natman

RedGlow - Even though by FDA definition, when someone simply mixes tobaccos together they are considered a "manufacturer" , I seriously doubt Tobacco Reviews feels the same way LOL!
If I could contribute any of my house-mixtures for public consumption and peer-review, it would definitely be this one - Sherm Natman

If we add new battles, I will definitely consider it. That would be a fun one.

A recent decision allows brick & mortar stores to hand blend. Probably because the customer can see what's going on. They're not considered manufacturers because of that decision.

BlendTobac - That's good news on the hand-blending!
And, I hope you will run AQ v VQ as a BOTB; as I feel those Battle of the Blends promotions are wonderful inducements, add interest, and provide exposure to tabaks which might otherwise be left ignored. It was through taking advantage of one of those BOTB promotions that I discovered my new pal, Prince Andrew. If you would care to, you can read about that here - Sherm Natman
