At the moment, SP is having a sale. 2 oz of bulk 507-C can be had for $5.14. Buy a pound and you'll pay $2.16 per ounce. In my experience, with some age on it, this straight Va flake is hard to beat, especially on a dollar for value basis. I don't need the cute tins with images of Sherlock, etc. YMMV

It's tempting to put back some various Sutliff blends that I haven't tried yet, and some that I have, including Voodoo Queen, which I really enjoyed the one time I got it. As for 507C, I've already got 4 oz that I purchased a year ago that I haven't touched, just aging away in a mason jar. Could I stand having 5 times that amount put back? Perhaps, but I think I'll just have to sit on my hands and wait patiently for the next Sutliff sale.

This is definitely a winner. I purchased five pounds in 2016. I knew it was for long term storage.

Here’s what I did.

I put pounds in pint mason jars. With date of course.

Then I divided the last pound into smaller jars and dated each with 2016 and an open date. 2016-2016, 2016-2017, 2016-2018, etc. up to 2016-2026.

Well, as the blend aged I consumed the smaller jars according to dates. I’m just smoking it all starting this year. Six years is fantastic so far.

The bulk sale certainly has my attention! I'm tempted to make my January order a few days early.

With regard to #507C, I'm reading that the flavor is pretty mild. Is this the kind of Virginia that you have to really focus and use tiny sips in order to taste it (and not burn yourself)? My palate and technique are at the point where fuller Virginias and VaPers work pretty well, but the milder straight Virginias can still be frustrating.

Thanks!
