I've been having an issue with my orders going through SurePost. This is just recently happening, and its not just my tobacco products. I track all my packages. What's happening is that I'll get an alert that its been delivered at a precise time (!!) But its not at my home. It shows up the *next day*. I had 2 alerts yesterday, both packages arrived today. I got another alert today, my guess is that it will come tomorrow. Why is this happening?

Shipping it's all ahoo as a result of increased volumes and silly new regulations. Galling when suppliers send me an E-mail to 'review your recent purchases' and the darn parcel hasn't even reached the country's port of entry/customs office yet, let alone my city!

It is abysmal. Are you checking it from the UPS tracking or the USPS tracking? If you’re checking it via the UPS site, it may say “delivered” because their destination is a US postal distribution point. It usually takes two days from the handoff to USPS- one day to get it to the local post office, and another for it to go out for delivery.
You are correct though, it sucks. I live in Louisiana, and have a package that was delivered a week or two ago, but the tracking says the package is still in transit in Carrollton, Texas.

The wife is the lead clerk at our PO. She says that with the pandemic, they now get sometimes 3 trucks of mail/packages a day instead of 1. With the load being like that plus UPS, Fed Ex and DHL coming in, sometimes if stuff arrives at the end of the day Sometimes it gets scanned delivered and goes out first thing in the AM?

Seriously NOT a good time for shipping to or from anywhere by any means. And in my case, scanning has often only made the waiting worse (I'm still scratching my head over why a recent parcel made a week of it touring rural post offices of South Carolina in transit between London and New York).

Meanwhile, false delivery scans (which I've been told drivers resort to when they're behind schedule with their work quota for the day) are particularly vexing.

As for SurePost, if you don't have a UPS My Choice account, you might look into signing up. I was given the option (two days in advance of a scheduled delivery) of "upgrading" my last Surepost package for $4. Well worth it to me. At least here, and at least now, UPS is noticeably better at everything.

Create an account at UPS. Google for the discount code to upgrade to premium for a year for $15. I do not remember the code off hand. You can then set it up where all SureLate packages autpmatically get upgraded to UPS ground.
With as much as I order and with Smoking Pipes now using it it is a steal of a deal.

I think the problem with surepost is both entities can blame the other. It's not our fault the thing is delayed, it's the other guys. Of course they'd say the same thing. I also get this horrible impression that how well it works is a very localized issue. I've never had a problem with it even with slight delays. I always seem to get my packages the same time as I would through either service alone.

I was surprised my FedEx delivery was coming through SurePost.

Ok, I need to post a positive review of the shipping via sure post. I hated this delay beast in the past, but I have now had two shipments this month from Smoking Pipes that took three and two days respectively to get to my door in Woodstock Illinois. Maybe they are starting to iron out the bugs. It was also a benefit that both deliveries were done on the weekend so my wife is none the wiser about a couple extra pounds of tobacco in my stash ?

I actually blame this on my mail-lady ...she's friendly enough but often checks shit off as delivered but doesn't wanna get up and dig for shit in the truck. Usually shows the next day. ...I realized UPS is like two bucks more and think I might just opt for that route and spare myself the agony.

You guys might be on to something with the post office being the week link. We not only have a really good post office,,,, we really like our DMV. Super fast and super nice people working there.
