does anyone have any experience with this mega perique baccy? I've read some reviews that are favorable ( if ya dig perique), and most said there is no bite. I'll know more by the weekend cause I ordered some from P&C. Most reviews caution to sit down before lighting up and hold on to the chair.

I havent tried it, but with some of the other high perique blends ive tried, you really have to smoke it a couple tomes to actually get past the super spiciness

I get such a kick out of the reviews. PPL say it makes them dizzy, turns them green, makes them take a nap, etc. etc. and so on. I think it depends on the person and their tolerance. I mix 1792 Flake, Hal O The Wind, Dark Birdseye and 5 Brothers. All reputed to have an outstanding, spin you in your seat, kick azz nic hit. NOT. They are super terrific baccys and I like them alot, but as far as the Nic hit, hitting, it is not there,(and I inhale alot). My advice mate, for what it is worth, try it and make your own conclusion. I wouldn't trade my favorites for the world and what they do for me, may be completely different than what they do for you. I hope my rambling on makes at least a bit of sense mate.

@ncfisher, alot of that does have to do with gained tolerance, if you smoke alot of high nic blends, you gain tolerance, if you smoke low nic blends and then try 5 brothers while doing snuff at the same time, your gonna feel the nic hit

thanx for the tips. Even better since I used to buy a few pipes from Frnchy, but I think he has retired from the pipe trade. Well, I hope it has a little nic hit. Have been readin a little history on Perique, and also the about the present state of perique production, Interesting. I guess it almost died out of production down in St. James Parrish in La. until a north Carolina gentleman started it up big time. Very interesting tobacco story. Can't wait to try this blend. Blue grass music and Cobs go well together. Wish I could still drink whiskey to round off the experience. Blue grass, a cob, sunza bitches, and whiskey. Throw in a red headed woman and I think this would be my ideal blend. Happy pufin

@ohin3: Yes, it is named after/for Frenchy. I was fortunate enough to have found his site when I first picked up the pipe, and bought my first few pipes from him. Had a few e-mail exchanges with him at the time and he gave me some very helpful pointers, which I badly needed then. He provided great, personalized customer service and had a wonderful site. I guess he retired...hasn't been on the web for a long time now as far as I know.
If anyone here knows how he's doing, I'd be interested to know.
EDIT: Meant to add, as far as the blend, I've never tried it because I don't mind a little perique, but a heavy dose of it doesn't sound like my cup o' tea exactly.

well........the sunzabitches arrived and let me say, at first smoke, I'm hooked. I think if you like licorice, the smell of hay and Lapsang Souchong tea, you're in this club. Exciting and deeeelicious. 28$ with shipping from Pipes and cigars for 8 oz. Periqueville. Hooray another great tobacco. How fortunate we all are to have this great selection of baccy available. Great to live in the 1st world.

Several years ago I bought a few ounces of straight perique, loaded up a pipe and smoked it..it was like smoking pepper: not strong, but not very tasty. I tried it again, with the same results. For me, it is like a "seasoning" tobacco, to add a little spice to a blend; nothing more.

Interestingly, Frenchy's has less Perique in it than Anniversary Kake--due to the components of the blend, though, particularly the bright Virginia, the nicotine tends to kick a little harder. It's one of my favorites in the genre, for sure.
