mothernature - In the 100g/3.5 oz tin, The Mac Baren Virginia No.1 they had on the shelf was priced in the $25.00 dollar range; whereas only a month or so ago, that same tin was priced around the $14.00 mark on their shelf.
So the sudden price jump is causing me to ask: "Competitively" to what? - Sherm Natman

Wow, I haven't seen them that cheap for years. Here's a shot of SPC from six years ago. Won't find those prices anymore. Luckily though, that's when I piled ODF in my cellar.

Embers - Well, that same 3.5oz HH ODF is currently selling just under $20 and the 3.5oz No.1 Virginia is currently on sale for 50% of that price at P&C. However, that is online pricing; and now the conversation is mixing "apples and oranges".
But, that is not the point.
My only point is the sudden price jump at the local B&M from $14 to $25 for the same tin of No.1 Virginia in the last month or so - and this includes sudden $1.00/oz price jump (25%) on their bulks.
I will get the full story when I go in later this week, and I will report what I was told for the reason behind the sudden price jump - Sherm Natman

At SPC, that same tin of ODF jumped to twice it's price in the span of a day. You've been lucky. That tin of Latakia Blend I posted above was purchased at a B&M a year prior to that SPC screen shot. Just sounds like your B&M is catching up with the times. I haven't seen Mac Baren products that cheap in years.

Embers - By-passing the times, is more like it I would say.
I have no problem paying $4 or $5 more than online price of $10 plus change for a MacB 3.5 oz tin of Virginia #1 to support my local B&M; but, to pay more than DOUBLE the internet price... ah... No.
I'll get the scoop behind the sudden price jump on Thursday; stay tuned. - Sherm Natman
