Did the Copenhagen snuff thing for about 30 yrs. loved the flavor combo of the DF Kentucky with the fermented twang/sourness. Been pipe smoking exclusively for the last 5yrs and tried all kinds of tobaccos including jackknife plug and triple play. They are all awesome! I just can’t seem to find one that hits all the marks. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Yeah, in fact smoking some HH old DF right now but still seems to be missing that fermented twang if that makes any sense?

I guess what I’m asking is, are there any blends that use DF Kentucky that has a more heavily fermented flavor? Not specifically tastes like Copenhagen

Hmmmm, I get hung up at the "fermented flavor" part. But, I kind of think I may know what you mean.
I would suggest something with cigar leaf. It might not sound right, but cigar leaf in a pipe is a different experience. But, it is the rest of what you need, the dark fired...

If I were blending for you, I would suggest a Red Virginia base, cigar leaf, dark fired, and then a few Orientals to give you the sour. Which Orientals, I would have to play around to get that right.

Does this sound like a blend anyone else has come across?

I think you are on the right track with blend you were talking about with the cigar leaf. As for the mint, no flavoring of any kind just straight up deeply fermented dark fired

I think cosmic is on track here, may have to blend your own. For the Red Virginia base he describes, I have found some of that fermented sort of character in Sutliff's 515 Red VA. Also in King's Red Virginia (a house blend from King's smoking pipes and cigars, they have a website you can order from). And of course McClelland Vas, but forget that.

I really appreciate everyone’s input! Love C&D bluegrass but is more on the sweet VA side for me. Now as for the red Va’s I see what y’all are talking about now. Sutliffs red Va and perique crumble kake is really the closest I’ve found, especially after being jarred for a few weeks

Have you tried GH&C Dark Flake Unscented?

It's completely not what you're asking for but it's fantastic!
Now I was going to suggest GH&C Dark Flake Scented. I find something in it that reminds me of the smell of Copenhagen. It doesn't smell the same, but upon my first smell that is where my mind goes. Try both! ?

Yup. I can't see the word Copenhagen without thinking of GH&C Dark Flake.

I've not tried the scented version though. I think I'll order me a sample this weekend. :col:
