Starting to Get Obsessed

Like many have said above, I agree that Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture is an excellent choice to get you started with virginia/perique blends. Although I must say give a try to the match version by Sutliff if you have a chance. I find it a bit more round and complex. JimInks in his review even says it is closer to the original Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture than the one currently produced. If you ever wanted to try a blend with a much higher perique content, I would try Chenet's Cake by Cornell & Diehl but that's definitely for further down the road when you have more experience with vapers!!!

I would not open to Acadian VaPer for several years. It’s certainly very smokable now. But it’s outstanding and no longer produced. I have no doubt it will be incredible in 5 years. I’m in agreement with @homewaters about Elizabethan Match.

Mike, Perique is an unusual blending tobacco in that it tends to change depending on with what it is blended, (something Greg Pease wrote about). This is further complicated by the composition of perique, ie it’s a blend. This is why I suggested you grab a blend you can easily wrap your mitts around. Get a sense of what it’s all about rather than an occasional wisp.
Anywho, Elizabethan is a well regarded blend and I hope you enjoy it. It’s on the darker side of the spectrum than, say, something like telegraph hill. If you come to really enjoy Elizabethan and want to explore other options in a similar vein, Fillmore is a good place to start, as is St James Flake.

Thanks for all the great advice guys. I chose Elizabethan based on that advice, that it was a good entry point for VaPers. I'd like to build up my palette and discern some of the flavours in there. Who knows? I might not even like it at first.
If the Acadian Perique improves over the next few years, all the better as I would be able to enjoy it a lot more than now.

Well, In my humble opinion, those three seem to be quite a perique rich blends, and now when it comes to this very genre of blends I wouldn't buy anything stronger than Solani 633, Reiner's Golden, Dunhill Dark Fl or Old Gowrie by Rattrays.
