My favorites, ODF, OGS, Peterson Flake, etc don't taste like they used to. My taste buds changed or something.
Never solved it, just don't taste as good as it did..
over several different tins or just the same ones. Could be a storage issue too. And did you clean the mortise out thoroughly. I swear I had a pipe that just lost all flavor till I cleaned out the shank area. Flavors started to pop again.

IMHO - too much smoking and overloaded your taste buds. Have done that with too much cigar smoking. Can also happen if smoking too fast & too hot. Virginias are comparatively on the mild side, too.

I've got some allergies going right now myself and things have been tasting sub par that's for sure. Kinda sucks as I'll be mixing up some blends for the boys at the pipe club, but I just gotta trust my notes and list of blends I have compiled. Smoking actually helps somewhat with the allergies but only takes affect about half way through the bowl and for a few hours after so taste testing some blends is still a bit off.
