We all know the price of meerschaum pipes is going up, but …..

Also if you want to be taken seriously, ignoring the insane asking price, at least put the stem in correctly.

I’ve always wondered what the hell these people are thinking putting the stem on upside down, I see it often… I mean, just look at it! It doesn’t even look right!
Non-pipesmokers... they just weren't thinking it through. If you aren't used to seeing pipes, it just doesn't register from them.
It also bothers me when the stem isn't seated flush for the pictures. I definitely am weary of those.

Mid 19th century Kalmach with sterling fitments in pretty minty condition for a 180 to 200 year old object, not at all heavily smoked. Yeah, badly displayed with the stem upside down and clearly listed by someone with little to no knowledge of pipes, but priced this in the ballpark for a pipe of this sort.

I've seen them go for more and for less.

It's the kind of item that is not well understood by majority of the pipe smoking community and crosses over into the more mainstream antiques market.

Yeh. Just too damned bad the stem is backwards. Practically unusable like that... ppphhhhht! puffy

The metal work looks impressive, and its historical significance is impressive. Visually it doesn't do anything for me, but maybe I am just not sufficiently appreciative of this pipe. I see it as a museum piece.

After a major automobile auction where a magnificent Duisenberg was on display, which I crawled all over (at least with my eyes) when I got back to my 1997 Altima with the contour seats and padded steering wheel it looked like the lap of luxury. The Dussie had a hard-looking bench seat and a tall thin steering wheel. All majestic but decidedly uncomfortable by comparison.

Though I still love the 40's and 50's cars with the couch style seating. Gives me a comfortable death trap vibe.
