Stupid ebay...

I've been surfing/lurking the ebay auctions as they drift off towards zero, been eying a couple. Finally decided to pull the trigger on one about an hour ago and it just ticked off with me as the only bidder. I thought I was done buying pipes, but I guess I'll stop lying to myself!

It's a Lorenzo Varallo which, based on the only reference I have, was made in the late 70's and cost 20-25 dollars then. I think that comes to about 90 dollars these days, so 15 dollars is a pretty good price, I think.

OMG and you are complaining?!!! Hah! Great looking pipe Amigo. I love the rustication and size, etc. You ought to feel those buttons popping on your vest - very rarely a pipe that nice goes for so cheap.

Ah, thank you Charles, I see it now ... clearly a case of "men's logic", no wonder I didn't get it
I couldn't get past "our" logic, smiling so sweetly & demurely, "But Darling, you know you have to spend money to save money and, well, with a bargain like this, I just made us $50!"

Yes, the lure of the eBay pipe is like the siren's song. I bought 15 pipes in 2011, and at least 8 are eBay sourced. Would have a few more if I hadn't been sniped. Hope you get that nice Lorenzo. It's a beauty.

The only stupid thing about eBay is bidding wars, bid what you want to pay and let it go, you'll save money and your sanity. Top tips, avoid big name brands and search for unsmoked pipes. Loads of bargains still out there.
