A forum member was kind enough to sell me a pound bag of 5 year old Picayune last Christmas, and I've come across a problem. As you all know, it's not in production anymore. But it's the only tobacco I have that tastes good and gives me a huge nic hit. I find myself smoking an alarming amount of it, and since it's finite, I really need something to replace it's titanic strength. I've tried everything, C&D BF1 and 3, Kendal dark, 5 brothers, HH Rustica, even straight C&D dark Burley, and nothing comes close to the nic hit. I need suggestions for REALLY strong tobacco. I know wild tobacco is strong but I don't have a good shredder to process it. I know the ropes are strong but they are so hard to get a hold of here in the US. Can anyone make some suggestions?

I don't know if it's a satisfactory answer for you, but I can tell you IMHO.

Usually when I smoke a pipe, I don't think nicotine is too much, but there's a Bold one what was.

HH Bold Kentucky is that.

It tastes like smoky meat, and a savory taste, and has strong nicotine. The body of the smoke is also hea

Just looked at @jiminks review on that one, I usually use his nicotine ratings as a point of reference, and it just might fit the bill. Thank you Leo, I appreciate it. It's been on my list for awhile now but I seem to have forgotten. It'll be on my next order. Can't lean on that picayune too hard.

You can always order raw leaf (pre cured) and get the rustica and use perique or dark fired as a binder and roll your own twist. Just cutting off coins and no shredder needed. I made a rope a month or so ago and it was actually quite easy.

Strongest one Ive tried is Peterson Irish Flake followed by Bold Kentucky, but there are others that are supposed to be stronger including Rustica.

I’m also a Picayune fan with a high nic tolerance. I haven’t found any other pipe tobacco that is in the same nicotine tier. I think Picayune was the king.
The Gawith ropes and flakes are tasty, but don’t even come close in nicotine. 1792, Brown No 4, Black XX, et al, will scratch the itch, but just barely. I could smoke those back to back. Peterson Irish Flake I would put in the same category as most of the Gawith stuff. Stronger than most, but not quite “Pride of New Orleans-strong.”
Kendal dark, Five Brothers, and War Horse Bar are a little closer to the mark, but still not quite there.
I still have a few pounds of Picayune squirreled away, but not as much as I’d like. ?

Depends what you’re looking for. If you want debilitating shit your pants and puke nicotine, you need to source it from farmers. Not many commercial pipe blends have a lot of juice.
Picayune was kinda blah to me.

If you want the taste of Picayune in a reasonably strong tobacco, I suggest Bayou Evening (it really strikes me as very similar). To me I find the strength comparable -- Picayune, despite it's rep, never struck me as all _that_ strong (but then again neither does any other blend). For just strength, there are some pretty strong ropes out there. Irish Flake is pretty tasty, too -- and is considered pretty strong.
