From the Introductions thread:
I found out that all tinder box tobaccos are pretty much the same and not too strong as well as all being aromatic aromatic. I remember from cigars that I really like strong tobaccos. I'm looking for something that will punch me in the face when I walk in the room and know its a great tobacco. you know, something Chuck Norris would smoke if he did.
There are many of us in this boat. In addition to the traditional pipe enjoyments of flavor and habit, we add the desire for aggression and virulent Nicotine dosage.
Here's my starter list:
  • C&D - Old Joe Krantz[/*]
  • C&D - Engine 99[/*]
  • Dunhill - Royal Yacht[/*]
  • Dunhill - Nightcap[/*]
  • Samuel Gawith - Best Brown No. 4[/*]
  • Samuel Gawith - 1792 Flake[/*]
  • Gawith Hoggarth - Brown Twist Sliced[/*]
  • Mac Baren - HH Old Dark Fired[/*]
That's a starter list; I'm sure others will have more to add.

Can't have a high nic list without Peterson's Irish Flake.
I'd also add that Stokkebye's Luxury Bullseye Flake has a bit of a punch to it as well. Same goes for Escudo, at least for me personally.

Billy Budd, Royal Yacht and Nightcap are my top 3 "over the top" strong smokes. Sadly, I cannot smoke any of them since I have a aggressive sensitivity to nicotine.

"Five Brothers will kick your butt hard if you smoke it on an empty stomach."

For a ribbon cut, and dollar for dollar, it is hard to beat the 5 Bros for sheer N power.

C&D Billy Budd, Dark Burley, and Big 'n Burley; GH Irish Twist X (rope, black and brown); Tobac-Manil Semois thick and medium cut, to name a few. Oddly, I find some of the stronger blends/leaf easier to smoke. I'm sensitive to the flavorings in aromatics; they can really burn me. Five Brothers is pretty polite by comparison, for me.

JackKnife Plug and its sister Triple Play pack a punch.
I have high tolerance for nicotine and regularly smoke JKP and TP (HH and Irish Flake as well). But mso489 is right. While the stuff I mentioned is for mortals. Irish Twist (rope) is for non mortals! I had a bowl of it in a pipe event and everyone warned me and I was "whatever...". I had to sit down after a few puffs and I felt like I turned green. Won't touch it again and I'm someone who smoked, and inhaled, Mapacho (look it up!) several times!!

+1 for Condor.
I'm really enjoying GLP Union Square right now. Almost through the tin. It is a very hearty robust virginia flake and it packs a strong punch for a straight virginia.

Everyone is different as it pertains to nicotine tolerance but here's two I find somewhat strong but only if smoked back to back:

G&H Dark Birdseye

C&D's Big & Burley

I do smoke Irish Flake and PSLBF and quite enjoy them. I read some of the reviews of the GH Black and Brown Twist and some of the reviews were quite funny. What I mean by that is just the comments themselves. One reviewer said, "It killed all the flowers including the plastic ones." So now my curiosity has got me going and I will have to order an ounce of each, just to say I've tried them.
Skywalker your comments really intrigue me. I did look up Mapacho. You smoked it?

Oh my gosh.

Gehosifats, i could add a couple of more, but I slobbered all over my keypad reading this list. Just reading some of these names makes me crave a bite of chocolate to get my sugar back up. Man, I love a strong blend at night. And, lately I have been in a Picayune kick. Turbo powered, ass kickin', VaPer on steroids. You light it up and hang on, Yahaw!!!

shikano53, yup. I smoked Mapacho :). I remember enjoying it as well
I think being in the rainforest and the general setting primed me to enjoy it. Now that I think of it my stomach hurts! Apparently the main use of it is pesticides.

I smoke a fair number of the strong blends mentioned, but the only one I have smoked where I really felt the nicotene was Brown Irish Twist. I still have the rest of the rope in a jar and every once in awhile I gaze at it, coiled in its glass cacoon, and shudder.
