Confirmed cases up about 25% again for the 2nd day in a row in my state. My county went from 2 to 4. Two of them are in nursing homes so you know how that will spread.

In my search and rescue training one of the major factors in those who survive and those who don’t is being able to look adversity in the face and having a ‘can do attitude’.

So in addition to trying to make as many good informed decisions on how I will live right now, I am taking advantage of this time to do things I can only do if I am effectively snowed in. Reading, thinking, praying, meditating, studying, planning, house projects, and deepening my relationship with my wife and kids.

The good news is that we have good internet and so there’s also a number of things we can do to advance some personal goals. As much as possible turning this into an opportunity regardless of how it ultimately turns out. And yes, while I will probably not smoke much for health reasons, one possible opportunity is to try a couple of new blends out that I have in my stash! :) :col::)

The intent is to avoid something developing like the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, which some epidemiologists are saying is a possibility.

The Chinese have a saying, "May you live to see interesting times." It's a curse. We're definitely seeing interesting times.

I am hopeful we will avert a 1918 type of impact, at least in some parts of the world. The mobilization of resources in the last few weeks is impressive, but we will have some pain. My friends in Switzerland and Italy already feel it where their case rates are nearing 1,000 per million and are taxing their medical systems. New York could be following that path too. This is likely to be with us through ups and downs for some time too.

The real concern is where there is poverty. If this ramps up in some African countries, it could get grim. There is some residual investment left over from Ebola for a few, but there are a lot of places where there just isn’t much to draw on to flatten the curve and save lives.

Interesting times indeed!

Maintaining an even strain, updating my streaming setups, going back to old DVD/BRs I haven't watched in a couple of years, & returning to previously liked genres & offerings -- Twilight Zone/Outer Limits from the 90s, etc.
I still have a working TV antenna and I get Grit TV (westerns) and METV( shows from the 60's to 80's) I am all set

If you have Amazon Prime, there's a few programs with some good "chillin' out" nature and city scenes, to put on either as background or to watch. They are also nice if the weather or location prevents you from getting out. Some have mood music, some are just the ambient sounds. I've spent time watching Sunrise Earth (which, unfortunately, is not on Prime), which is HD programming of nothing but the sun rising in various locales, such as an old fishing harbor. I'd really like to get a Blu-Ray of the Norwegian "Slow TV" train program.

Some examples to check out:

Shinrin-Yoku: Terrific HD walk through an old Japanese forest.
Sunrise on the Bosphorus: Reminds me of the Sunrise Earth series.
Gorgeous Aerial Views
Water
Around the World in 90 Minutes

remember Anne Frank had it worse
But still, it's odd that she wrote that moving diary of her's with a fine ballpoint pen. Fine ballpoint pens were not available before 1951. Gets the old noggin joggin'.

Got stressed and then I gave up on it. My father didn't go along with Uncle Sam to issue a world class ass-whupping to the knucklehead NAZIs so I could cower in my house like a scared child.
Godwin's law alert!
Godwin's law
is an Internet adage asserting that "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches " sooner or later someone will compare someone or something to Adolf Hitler or his deeds, the point at which effectively the discussion or thread often ends .

You mean like you're doing right now?
Put the pipe back in your mouth and quit trying to start something.
