Strange little KB&B all wood pipe

I'm trying to find out more about this antique store find. It is all wood, including the stem. It doesn't look like it is briar. The band has the KB&B Clover logo stamped into it along with the words Nickel Plated. There are no markings at all on the wooden parts of the pipe. I'm not sure if it is a very early KB&B or possibly just a homemade pipe that someone shoved the band on. The stem is all wood but it has screw threads for screwing into the pipe shank.

Looks like a homemade stem to me and the pipe doesn't look like it matches the band. I believe you are correct in your assumption.

Kaywoodie did produce an all briar pipe, bowl, shank, and stem. It would have an "all briar" stamp on it. Your band looks like one from the 1920's which was WAY before the all briar pipes were made.
