Very few beards, IMO, look good. (I'm being kind.) I'd recommend a quality double-edge razor. A straight is too much of a hassle to care for. Been there, etc.
I have some straights, but honestly 90% of the time I use a double edged safety razor. I shave every day for work, but on the days I can relax and enjoy the shave, I go with the straight.
It scares me, I have never used such a device. And if I propose it to my wife, that she does the barber's job for me, it may be the last shave of my life. I admit I'm fascinated by razors, all the traditional razor stuff, and all that liturgy. Beautiful razors guys.
