I agree with the straight / bent concerning prince. I see lots on the bay that are labeled prince but have no bends. I have a

Sasieni Mayfair, I call a diplomat shape, which is a straight prince, maybe I am incorrect in calling it that.

r, that Parker may have a very slight downward bend in its stem, but it may be my astigmatism. The Dr. Grabow Royalton is called an apple, but I think that is because the folks in Sparta, N.C., don't want to be associated with the prince shape; their princely apple has a very very slight bend in the stem, barely. The bowl looks more prince than apple to me.

As I've been lead to believe, if it's straight it's not a prince but a tomato or an apple or what have you. A true prince should have a slight bend in the stem.
As a Prince aficionado, I believe this is the correct interpretation.

I've found the Prince I believe to be an authentic princs despite the lack of a bend. It's a Peterson, and probably one of the most expensive pipes they've ever produced, over $200. I'm gonna have some cold night sweats over this one for a whille, but I figure it'll be hard to forget the circumstances, i.e., my 15th leap year birthday.
