Storing Ken Byron Blends

Hey folks,

For those who have Ken Byron blends you know that he sends it out in mylar bags. If you're not going to smoke them right away do you leave it in the bags long term? Or do you make the transfer to jars? I have plenty of jars, just don't know if I need to transfer them if the bags are good enough.

I have a bunch of them. I leave them in the bags. I have not noticed any problems with those I’ve had over a year or two.

Leave them in the bags, they're metallized, so they will protect the contents for a couple of decades.

I move them to jars once I open the blend to smoke it. Otherwise, it stays in the sealed mylar.

That’s what I do even Thu the bag has a ziplock I’m just so used to jarring stuff after opening it.

Just fyi that’s redundant. Foodsaver bags are gas permeable and are rated for a couple years max. We use foil mylar as it’s rated for decades of storage. ??

Agree with others. Leave them in the mylar bags.

I move to a jar after opening as well. I have tons of blends in jars and they will be good for years.
