As I only smoke large pipes, I've never found a reason to bring along any more than what I already have packed in the pipe. Interesting idea though

I would think it would be a PITA to put tobacco in a tube and get it out. And for what reason? It's not going to be damaged. A zip lock works fine, grabbing a tin or two or using a tobacco pouch. They sell those tobacco pouches for next to nothing.

The aforementioned baggie, an old empty pipe tobacco tin, or a fold-over seem like slightly easier to handle solutions that hold a little more leaf, to me.

Yes, someone has done that. But why bother? Even a flimsy plastic baggie will work; just roll it up tight after putting a half ounce or so in it.

I put Carter Hall in my pipe pouch combo, and briar fox in my leather pouch. When I'm feeling frisky and want to smoke one of my 3 other blends, I'll put a small amount in a film canister. Fits about two or 3 bowls worth. More than I'll ever want of a different tobacco in one sitting.

I use an old square Capstan tin. Holds plenty, fits almost anywhere.

Plastic baggies would work most places but, the high humidity here in summer would make a sog out of anything inside it pretty quick.

Where is "here"?

And if a baggie is rolled up it "gains better resistance" to moisture changes.

jpmcwjr...deep south here. I've rolled up tobacco in a baggie before and stashed it in the pickup while outside working all day. July and August down here usually brings out the moisture in anything.

Even Nightcap sleeping in a baggie.
