Stokkabye English Luxury 17 is one of my favorite blends.
I originally bought quite alot of it a while back as a white label house English blend, but the tobacconist told me it what it was. I even asked him if he blended it with anything and he said no it's exactly as-is. I don't even know why I bought so much I just really liked it, I think it was around two pounds, which for me is probably a lifetime supply hah! But it has mostly sat in a large container in my closet where an ounce here and there will get transferred to a mason jar to be used.
Recently I bought some tobacco online for a friend and I included some fresh PS English Luxury, thinking it is probably a good idea to buy it "officially" as branded and make sure it's the same one like the Tobacconist said. It
definitely has the same profile that I was not able to find in other popular english blends, a sort of sharper citrus or maybe sour - in a good way - that I really enjoy with a touch of sweetness that always leave me feeling like other blends are kind of flat.
However, the fresh stuff was also definitely not as rich or robust as the old stuff that I have (sorry I'm not good at describing taste), which is probably like 4 years old, plus however long the shop was sitting on it - which could have been years again since it was mostly a cigar shop with low pipe tobacco turnover.
It could be they changed process, or could be the aging. I don't have a good feel for the
magnitude of improvement that aging imparts - so I just can't say but you might try putting it away for a while and giving it another chance later on.
