Stingers? Me no like.
Have not had one that improved the smoke. In fact, every pipe that I've removed a stinger has smoked fine without them.
Plus they're a pain to clean.
Petersons? As you can probably tell by the responses, there's divided opinions.
My Sherlock Holmes full bent took an absolute beating before I learnt that briars need to be rested . . . oops.
It never soured despite being smoked day in day out for several years and still is a fine smoker.
