I think the previous owner of this poor old pipe had confused it with a hammer from the looks of the rim. I've been working towards a 7 day set of Sterncrest billiards, and this makes number 5. Some say billiards are boring, but they are my favorite pipe to smoke. For me, nothing smokes like a classic straight billiard.
Although I don't like topping pipes unless necessary, this is the second beheading I've executed this week. I had to remove quite a bit of damaged and burned briar to reach the good stuff and started to wonder if I'd end up with a prince shape. It turned out somewhere in middle. It's closer now to a pot than billiard. I like beveled rims and since I was going this far, I figured why not give it a shot. After cleaning all the crud off the briar I was pleasantly surprised with the flock of birds that had been hidden away. I'm sure there is an exception to the rule but everything from the Sterncrest line I've seen, have been silver banded push stems.

I just posted something like that! Are you sure you didn't buy another pipe? That is amazing what you've done there. After seeing this, mine may be possible to repair.
