I recently repaired a large bite through with nothing but the glue. It was too fragile and ended up breaking apart, so I removed that repair. I did some sanding and filed off some vulcanite off a spare stem, mixed them together and it works like a charm.

I've used the CA and charcoal several times without incident. The rubber toughened CA isn't as durable and is more difficult to work with. I've went back to using the CA and charcoal repairs, because of the reliable and consistent results.

I put superglue in and on people all the time. Its completely safe and inert once it sets. The glue we orthopods use to cement in knee replacements is chemically similar to superglue and we also use it to close skin all the time.
Bottom line: superglue is nontoxic once dried.

Starting to Get Obsessed
Now that should put this to rest,
Now IF someone would answer peteguy's question on what is deactivated charcoal and where to get it?
I would like for some to explain the difference between Activated and deactivated.

Personally, I see only superglue and not color. I like to think that one day soon, we shall judge superglue, not by its color, but by the adhesiveness and content of its character.
