I have a Set of three Dunhills. In the stems, there is a registration number: Reg. N°. 654638.. Does anyone know what it is?

Ao (Bruyère), Inner Tube Pat. Nº.5861/12 - 5 (1925).

Shapes: Billiard - 60; Billiard - 35; Dublin - 42.
Thanks.

Now I really miss John Loring's pages... The stem Reg. No. were seen on the early pipes (Loring gives the exact information and dates).

hi yang, loring dates the appearance of the reg number stamp to 1917 (being preceded by a provisional protection stamp in 1916), and its disappearance to about 1934. my dates are very slightly different. i suspect the stamp appeared in the late winter/early spring of 1916, and ought to have disappeared about the same time of year in 1931. the minutiae is complicated, but that's a summary.

I have all the pages saved in my Dropbox (I haven't read it all yet.). If you need it, let me know.

Thanks!
