This may seem like a stupid question, but I've never used oil. I've always used a Magic Eraser and tooth paste with a dry cloth to remove oxidation and polish my stems. My question is; does the oxidation need to be removed before applying the oil, or does the oil help remove the oxidation? I guess what I'm looking for is the correct technique for using the stem oil. Thanks in advance!

The oil inhibits the formation of the oxidation but doesn't remove it. Use the oil after you have removed the oxidation.

Once you have the oxidation off, dab some oil on the stem with your finger. Let it sit and absorb in for 20 mins or a half hour, and then buff with a cloth.
