It can be mixed with anything to create a unique smoking experience,

What a weird thing for a company to suggest we do with their blend. I mean, sure, we have blends that we know that we can mix stuff with, but for a company to say it out loud makes me think... "You probably won't like this, but nothing will be wasted. You can always mix it with something else." Fire that marketing goon.

Brian Levine had posted earlier that it is coming in tins, and it is not like a Lakeland but more like the HH line, which baffles the crap out of me. I was excited that it was going to be more like a true Irish plug (Yachtsman, Velvan, and Warrior, etc...) Besides the new War Horse, we don't have access to the true plug flavors here in the US.

One of my favourite blends. I have been ordering this for over $20 from UK... And it's among the best blends as for aging.

I was greatly looking forward to this becoming available. However, at $16, it will have to be a special treat...not the everyday smoke I planned it being. The reason I wasn't able to smoke Three Nuns regularly was the price. Looks like its the same case with St. Bruno. Terribly disappointing...

At $16 a pouch it's relatively cheap compared to having it sent from across the Pond.
I think that's how I'd set pricing. Make it cheaper than the other options, but still, the highest price you can get.
The only downside of this strategy is that it may fail to build the audience that this product should have, if it were comparable to other similar options, and thus, it may cease to be imported because of low sales.
Always a trap, even in good logic.

I will order a tin to see what its like but I dislike St Bruno RR but didn't mind the flake so it will be interesting to see what they have done with it. At $16 a pop thats about what I was paying for it when I used to get it for people on here.

As a stalwart smoker of St. Bruno, I've smoked it since I was 18/19 I'm now 43, I too feel the pain regarding cost. More so than most of you guys here as I'm in the UK, & we've been paying over the odds for years now. However I must say for what it is $16 isn't too high a price not to try it at least once. How much would people be prepared to pay if/when it becomes unavailable? With all the different blends I've tried & have stored away I honestly would struggle without St. Bruno at hand to enjoy my pipes as much as I do now. So I say you all dust off the moths & de blooms from your wallets & buy a pouch/tin! Also, make sure you try both the flake & ready rubbed/rough cut. I am convinced the flake is better in every way, have been for years & tell everyone who'll listen to me that it's the best there is. Alas for some reason I actually reach for & smoke twice as much ready rubbed!

It seems like Macbaren is singlehandedly trying to raise the price of tobacco
I, too, have wondered about their pricing policy. Their price rises have led me to shift my consumption to other, less dear, tobaccos. Still, I will be buying St. Bruno at the price they have set. I will grumble, but I will still buy.

I have some St. Bruno ready rub and its a nice blend, but I'm not a fan of it enough to probably buy it again. I don't mind paying $16 for a tobacco, but that isn't one of those blends I would pay $16 for.

Tinned st bruno may be worth it mainly since I haven't seen tinned st Bruno ever just the pouches. Then again if I lived in the UK probably would see that often as well as Germaine's delicious brown flake.

From the replies to this thread it sure looks like St. Bruno isn't going to be around very long in the US. That's sad because there are some folks that really like it, but I'm not one of them.

Who's gonna cellar that? Bit pricey. But for those that get it from over seas, this has to be a better deal. I'll have to try it.

In the seventies and eighties, there were a lot of imported tobaccos that I had the chance to try. Some of them were okay, but not my cup of tea. Some became favorites. But there was one that was different than anything I had tried, and although it wasn't my everday choice, I kept going back to it from time to time, and when it was no longer available in the US, I missed it.

That tobacco was St. Bruno Flake with its smooth, rich, flavor and light floral and fruit note that enhances, rather than masks, the excellent leaf. A large, grateful group of pipe enthusiasts are thrilled to see St. Bruno return to our shores. Welcome back and old friend, or try this classic for the first time. Either way, you win.
I for one am thrilled to see this Classic once again available in the States and will gladly pay $16.00 dollars a tin. This Tobacco was selling for around $10.00 bucks a Tin when it left the States back in the 80's. I realize it is considered an OTC Tobacco overseas, but it is a lot higher Quality Tobacco than what most people consider an OTC. I am grateful that Mac Baren purchased the Tobacco blends from Imperial Tobacco and decided to once again offer this great Tobacco to us here in the US, without there efforts this Fine Tobacco may have disappeared from the market all together as Imperial is focusing on the Cigarette market now a days. With the price of Captain Black costing 7.00 or 8.00 dollars a pouch depending on your location and a pack of Marlboros at $5.00 a pack, I think this is a fair price. Heck, has anyone here priced a pound of strawberry delight from your local B&M lately. I'll take the Standard Dark Flake to this stuff any time! Just my 2 cents worth!

I'm sure all the Canadian and Australian pipesmokers are reading this thread and thinking how silly all complaining is about new released tobacco at prices STILL lower than they pay.
$17 is still less than what it costs to buy overseas and import it in currently.
