A jeweler once told me that square or rectangular watches (which I love for their appearance) are more difficult than round ones to seal properly. Without knowing for sure, I'd bet that submarine hatches are round. Coincidence? I think not. But I may be in trouble, as I have quite a few square tins that I haven't checked in years. Will I check on them now? Probably not. Lazy slacker boy here.

I come to London in April and I was hoping to buy some tobacco. Since I don`t have enough room for jars I better search those round tins. Germain`s has round tins but they are so hard to get.
The popular Germain's blends - Brown Flake, RDF, Medium Flake - always sell out very quickly.

Yes I have noticed that and it’s almost impossible to get any of those if you don’t live on UK.
It's hard to get even if you live in the UK. It didn't used to be that way. It would go out of stock from time to time but then it would be easily available for months.

Probably became hard to get when people found out they make Esoterica
I think quite a bit of Germain's gets bought by the Chinese. They're a very small company and the demand for their products is very high.

You can get it over here but you have to be on the 'notify me' system with the shops and you normally have to be very quick as it sells out fast.

I've heard that most Esoterica goes to China so I wouldn't be shocked if Germain's was the same way. They're also the biggest market for Cuban cigars

Is there any other tobaccos in round tins than Gawith and hoggard limited edition that is made in UK?
When I come to London I don’t want to buy tobacco that is made in Denmark by STG.

There is only Gawith Hoggarth tobacco made in the UK full stop. We are the only tobacco manufacturer here. Germains are in Jersey so not technically part of the UK. Anything else you buy in the UK outside these two manufacturers is imported. A vast majority of it will be made by STG.
Are the new tins proven to be better than the old ones (new ones have plastic wrapper)?

Why is a new thread in 2025 when issues regarding the seals of these square tins has been known for years? Once I knew that I immediately jarred what I had, which wasn’t much…
There are always people who are unaware about these sorts of things. They either miss earlier threads, can't be bothered to look, or never thought about it, or have had something come up unexpectedly that they need answered.

There must be 10,000 "how to clean a pipe" threads. And someone will ask the question, despite the 10,000 existing threads.
