I never spit from excess saliva. I will occasionally get some tobacco in my mouth and will spit that out if outside. I have known cigar smokers who spit constantly and it was disgusting. Not sure why some people salivate while smoking, but it is not all that uncommon.

I will actually spit once in awhile. Interestingly enough I have the same issue my saliva glands go over board once in awhile after a relight.

I never feel the urge to spit while smoking, be it cigarettes or my pipes. 8O
I live by the Code of The West: Respect the land, defend the defenseless and don't never spit in front of women and children.

I spit all the time when I smoke. I find that if I swallow it, it doesn't taste like what I'm smoking. It just tastes like smoke

I don't feel quite as alone now

To Jah76, I sometimes drink while smoking. If I have a beer with it I realized I don't spit as much, and after I smoked a bowl after work today I was paying more attention to the habit and realized that it was almost always when I relit. My mouth immediately salivates, but if the bowl is going well and not smoking hot I don't. This is explains why I even thought about it yesterday, I smoked two bowls and both of them I packed horribly for some reason (I've been much more consistent with decent packing recently) and relit many times for both of them, which explains why I was spitting so much.

Loseth, you might be a red neck, depending upon your definition. I spit, fart or whatever, whenever I want to, just not in the house.

Yeah spitting isn't gentleman behaviour, and gentlemen smoke pipes.
I don't think this statment is entirely true. I don't consider myself a 'proper gentleman'. Rednecks smoke pipes just the same as a snooty business owner or billionare would. I'm pretty sure if he thought no one was around the snooty guy would hock a big 'ol loogie, scratch his hairy ass and let a nasty old man fart out, then adjust his junk before he put 'his game face back on'. I personally don't favor the yuppie, snooty types. Two fisted, beer drinkin redneck with a pipe in his teeth is how I roll lmao!
People aren't perfect and I honestly think in today's society being a gentleman or a lady is gone to the shitter. I was raised very strict and I have morals and decency but some of the teens and kids today have absoutley no respect for anyone or anything. Some of the stuff kids do today I would get the wrath of the paddle, belt or a hard smack from my dad or mom (mostly my dad cause we just laughed when mom would whack us one lol).
