Spinal Tap 2: The End Continues

They're releasing a Spinal Tap sequel next month (trailer below) and I was wondering what people's thoughts were?

I loved the original but i'm not that impressed with the sequel's trailer. Hopefully i'm wrong and it's a great movie. I'm not a big fan of sequels to movies as they fuck it up so often. It's not often you get a Godfather 2 or Aliens. Look what they did with Joker 2 and don't even get me started on that Blues Brothers sequel.

Anyway have a look and see what you think.

Yeah, sequels are tricky. Especially with the original Spinal Tap being such an iconic movie.

People want to see it. It will be a nice payday for guys at the very end of their careers. Will it be good? It’s a tossup.

Some people think this trend is lazy movie making. They don't need to develop characters as much, and already have a base premise to go off of.

But I'd have to believe they do their testing, and people want this.

Somewhat tangentially related: Happy Gilmore 2 didn’t suck, somehow, I have no idea how that movie wasn’t a complete piece of shit.

That said, given the deadpan, subtle nature of British humor in general, let alone with the original film, I’m afraid of the “sequel treatment” with Spinal Tap…..but still hopeful.

Imagine a Pink Flamingos reboot… lol/gag

I loved Spinal Tap when it came out. I rewatched it a few weeks ago and found it didn't quite hold up to my memories. The trailer looks a little weak.

I love Spinal Tap. I watch it a couple times a year every year. One of my favorite movies and it still cracks me up. Recently went and saw the Anniversary edition in the movie theaters and took the wife along. It was great seeing it in the theater. The wife didn't really appreciate it, but I told her I'm taking to Spinal Tap II in September. LOL

I'm looking forward to it. I think it's going to be great.
