I've really enjoyed this blend, and as I've had some time today to enjoy a bowl, I felt like sharing my experience with you all.
To begin with, when I popped the tin, I got a great whiff of what smelled like a spicy, sweet, tangy plum or prune sauce. It smelled really rich, and made me salivate.
The crumble cakes were a little ragged around the edges, and broke up easily. The moisture level seemed quite good, no flakes stuck to my fingers, and there was no staining after breaking it up. I only let it sit on my little plate for about 5 or 10 minutes, and then loaded up my W.O. Larsen bulldog for the occasion. For the sake of good hydration, all I had to drink was a glass of ice water.
It took a few lights to get it going well, (there may have been more moisture than I thought in there), but after it was lit, I had no problem keeping it going.
During the first 3/4ths or so of the bowl, every puff was different. I'd get tangy, almost sour...then on the retrohale it would be spicy and a little peppery in the nostrils. The next puff would be salty, but on the retrohale would give me a kind of plain sweet tobacco flavor, and so on. This went on for about 45 minutes, and I had to restrain myself from going into full steam engine mode, as it was so tasty and complex.
In the last quarter of the bowl, I got some cigar like flavors, and the tangy fruit flavors subsided somewhat (or maybe my senses were overloaded). I could taste more of a generic mildly sweet tobacco flavor. I don't generally go for broke in trying to smoke all the way down to the last shreds, so I didn't fight it when it wanted to go out.
When I dumped the bowl, it was mostly ash, with a little of the charred tobacco left, and a small amount of dottle that was wet, but not goopy. I didn't experience any tongue bite, or gurgle. All in all, this is really tasty stuff. It's zestier than my usual VaPer blends, in a very pleasant way. At any rate, I'm very pleased with the blend, and will be picking up more as soon as it's available!
