Trided it and semi fan. I don't like the pipe aeing that nuetral (personal taste) but great for just right before a deep clean is needed. Sorry but i tried it and it is ok. Also left behind a subtle stank that alcohol clears out. Like a light saponification
Most of this reads like Harris wrote it on mushrooms, ha ha.
But, did you mean to almost say that the water left behind a stank? I wouldn't advise you to drink any of that water. You live in Flint, Michigan?

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. Alot I couldn't understand, some i had to look up in the dictionary... saponification.. and I still don't get it. I think he tried the water flush and gives it a C
  1. turn (fat or oil) into soap by reaction with an alkali.
    "saponified vegetable oils"
    • convert (any ester) into an alcohol and a metal salt by alkaline hydrolysis.

I have to admit, most nights I get too sleepy to wash out 12 pipes, so I just run pipecleaners down them. But, they always smoke and smell better if I do take the time to rinse them. I just can't imagine water leaving behind a smell, unless you are using hottub water after your swinger's night. Then... that isn't just water, haha. puffy

Pipe smoking mostly without the water flush mostly works well for me, but I have a big rotation of pipes, and I don't build cake, just scoop and wipe out the bowl with an abrasive paper towel. But I have no compunction about water flush, if it's needed. Once in a while, it is just the ticket. The original post sounds like a John Ashbury poem, maybe for The New Yorker.

Never did it. I Still use a pipe cleaner at the end of the round and that’s all…
I rather enjoy the experience of 10-15 pipes at a time that have been used of and on for month or so. I’ll light a cob and grab a microfiber cloth, a bag of BJ Longs, paper towels, & some QTips and go about my business with some Everclear. It’s mindless therapy for me I suppose. ?‍♂️☕

Water flush works best when you start with a clean pipes and perform the flush regularly. I pretty much flush after each bowl smoked. Water is no competitor for alcohol if you start with a pipe that has not been cleaned for awhile and has a buildup of tar and other crap.

The test scenario described in the original post was destined to fail. Which is fine, I don't care if people water flush or not. But they should make an informed decision based upon the correct set of facts.

Exactly. Start with a clean pipe and maintain a clean pipe. It’s just like fitness — Easier to maintain than regain.

Whoa! A water stank! A first I guess. A number of people use the hot water flush to get rid of odors left by alcohol cleaning. Mileage varies, no doubt.

My teasing aside, read the above post @anotherbob! A really dirty pipe and warm water may result in some crud getting rearranged IMO.

yeah I get that. I wrote it on my flip phone. Nah there was a weird after smell in the pipe. And a sorta borderline soap smell but off. Really subtle and way in the back but still there.

So the pipe started with a weird stank. Water flushed it and there was a very subtle back ground nastiness that was super faint. Almost a sorta soapy thing but not quite. Not saying it's from one thing or another. But more saying yeah it's seems fine and gives an almost neutral quality minus one tiny bit of something minor.
