The name is Davenport, I'm 24 years of age. I have been a long term cigarette smoker ever since I started at the age of 6, not going to bore you with those details. I've decided to become a pipe smoker, no i'm not doing just for the cool factor, no neither am i doing it to get free stuff, although "free" does sound good :D mahahahaaa. Neither am i doing it to make big money from YouTube.
Let's just get down to it, shall we, Okay, so I went to the Cigarandpipes website and look at most of the pipes there, and decided to get two pipes, one is the MM Great Dane Spool bent and the other is the MM Cobbit Elf. Yeah, i know it's a Bit unusual for a first timer choice. But i like the look of the pipes and i believe i'm making a good choice with these pipes.
Tobacco on the other hand, I haven't found one yet, I'm just afraid of tongue bit. lol
Update: going to cost $39 to get a PO BOX, which means won't be getting my pipes and tobacco from online.
Any advice on Tobacco?

I'd recommend Penzance, Stonehaven, or Balkan Sobranie 759, kidding... sort of ;) If not one of those, I believe the general consensus is usually lane 1Q, but I prefer a good VaPer like Esucudo. Welcome to The Club! Most people here seem to be smokers also ;)

You've made excellent choices in pipes. After 24 years of pipesmoking, and collecting big dollar artisan pieces, I still love Missouri cobs. Grab a pouch of Carter Hall, Prince Albert, or 1-Q, and welcome to the hobby and forum!

Welcome to the forum. While I've never been there, I do know The Briary is one of the premier pipe shops in the US. If your not sure about a first tobacco it would be worth the trip there to get some professional advise.

Thank y'all for the warm welcome. On the topic of Tobacco, i do love some Honey and whiskey every now and then and as well as shot of butterscotch, are there tobacco blends that come close to the taste.

Welcome to the forum, landofnone. I for one would love to hear about a 6 year olds cigar smoking testimony. That should be a hoot.

Has anyone tried Missouri Meerschaum Great Dane tobacco? The reviews on pipesandcigars website has little to none negative comments.

Today i received my Missouri Meerschaum corn cob pipes, and 1.5OZs of Missouri Meerschaum Great dane tobacco. I'm really loving the pipes so far, the Cobbit Eif is so beautiful and it's light, in fact a lot lighter then the Great Dane Spool. So far, i've only smoked about 2 bows of Missouri Meerschaum Great Dane tobacco with the Great Dane Spool, lets just say, first time smoke with the tobacco wasn't good at all, it tasted like a bad cigar. But after the 2th bow, it's starting to taste sorta sweet it's very faint though. After i eat a slice of pizza and start watching a movie, i will light up another bow, but this time with the Cobbit Eif!.
P,S: I'm using a allen wrench as a Tamper. and a bic lighter.

As a recent convert from cigs to pipes, I recommend prince albert. Its cheap, easy to find, has enough nicotine to satisfy the cravings, and doesn't tend to bite (at least for me).
Good choice on the MM cobs. Mine is probably my favorite pipe right now. Good luck :)

Cheap pipes are great for starters. As for tobacco I always recommend Frog Mortons for any beginner, but if you prefer something more cigarette-like, go with straight virginia or straight burley, or a mixture of the two.

Can't go wrong with a cob. I have 8 cobs and smoke them regularly. If you stop by the local B&M check with the tobacconist and see what he recommends based on any preferences you may have. A good tobacconist should be able to give you some good recommendations and get you going in the right direction.

I'd say try a Virginia for a taste similar to (but much better than) cigarettes. For a quality one, I like "Union Square" by GL Pease.
