I have the suspicion that bag was originally used to carrier farrier tools. Not that it matters, because it still makes a nice home for that Dunhill! If you do a google image search for farrier tools you will see there has been a tradition of fine leather bags made for them.
At any rate, I think it's a very cool find.

Fine score! The inside pockets of the bag appear to be elephant hide, which just adds to the tally!
