That's awesome you finally got your bottles! I had a similar thing happen with a bottle of Hennessy I ordered. It got stuck in customs, and I thought it was lost for good. Luckily, the seller was super nice and sent it to my cousin in the UK instead. When he came to visit, he brought it with him. We cracked it open during a family BBQ, and it was such a hit. Hennessy really has this smooth, clean flavor that everyone enjoyed. It made the hassle totally worth it and added a nice touch to our get-together.

I only drink cognac , brandy or rum in winter. I still have half bottle of kirkland XO for next winter but i really prefer the Lustau brandy de Jerez gran reserva or the Barrilito rum. On this season of the year , i prefer Lustau amontillado or palo cortado.

Years ago, as he got older, the political writer for the NY Times, RW Apple shifted from politics to food related articles. Apple knew and loved food! He wrote an article which hugely praised a small producer of Cognac called Paul Giraud.

I've tried three expressions of these Cognacs: the VSOP, Napoleon and the Tres Rare. I lreally liked them all and to this day I believe Giraud cognacs are amongst the best I've ever had. The VSOP still affords a great value. Rich and fruity it is less complex than the older and more complex Giraud bottlings but it is great great stuff for the money.

Try Giraud cognacs. I think you will be impressed.

I won't drink the stuff myself, but I have friends who love the stuff, and they swear by cognac and its brothers of other varieties.
