When the pipe smoking world got me I thought a hundred bucks was a lot for a piece of wood to burn leaf and many folks who don't smoke pipes still think so.

I've smoked a pipe for thirty years and I still think so.
I find it a flat out steal really. One hundred bucks for a piece of beautiful functional craftsmenship, wow that's a huge deal. Seriously what else can you get for one hundred bucks that's gonna bring such continued joy.
The value of federal reserve notes would not be one of them.

I live for the ones from people that have one post. A post that says I don't smoke but I have a pipe. It's made out of wood and has a black mouth thingy. What is it worth? And it looks just like the one that my father's mother's uncle's neighbor had. So it must be old.
Actually, that would be a step up from the usual.
I think you guys missed the continued joy part. My oldest pipe which I got for 30-40 bucks should have been at least 100 and well I've had it for 25 years. Now what they're selling else where such as Bangkok Swansea or that bar down the street, that doesn't last 25 years at least not without issues a pipe has never given me. I have never looked at a pipe and thought why can't it be like it was in the beginning sneaking out for smokes, but now the pipe is mad I forgot the stupid trash.... So what else can you get for that price and still enjoy 25 years latter?
